Renting a scooter or e-bike for Glovo, Wolt, Uber Eats 2026 — prices

September 8, 20268 minute readPodpin Research Team
TL;DR

A courier on an e-bike or scooter earns more per hour in the city centre than a courier in a car — and pays nothing for fuel or parking. But the choice of vehicle is not only about earnings: it decides whether you need a licence and OC insurance, and how much the rental costs. This guide collects approximate 2026 rental prices for scooters and e-bikes for Glovo, Wolt, Uber Eats and Bolt Food in Poland, the legal requirements, battery logistics, realistic hourly earnings, and how to find an honest rental through Podpin.

Which vehicles you can deliver with for Glovo, Wolt, Uber Eats and Bolt Food

All four platforms accept couriers on bikes, scooters and cars. Here are five realistic options, from cheapest to most expensive:

  • Regular bike. Zero "fuel" cost, no licence, no OC. Rental 60-100 zł/week or a used one of your own for 500-800 zł. Best in the very centre, in season.
  • E-bike. Assist up to 25 km/h and a motor up to 250 W — legally still a bicycle: no licence, registration or OC. The most popular courier choice in 2026: 8-10 hours of riding without exhaustion, 40-80 km per charge.
  • E-scooter up to 45 km/h. Legally a moped (motorower): you need category AM or any B licence, registration, OC and a helmet. Quiet, cheap to run (about 2-4 zł of electricity per 100 km), range 50-90 km.
  • 125cc petrol scooter. A light motorcycle: category A1, or a B licence held for at least 3 years (up to 11 kW and a power-to-weight ratio up to 0.1 kW/kg). 250+ km on a tank, 90+ km/h — best for suburbs and long deliveries outside the centre. Pricier to rent and to fuel.
  • Car. Category B and OC. The most large orders (Glovo groceries, supermarkets), but add fuel, parking and city-centre traffic. Separate guides: is renting a car for delivery worth it and the car rental contract step by step.
Which platform, which vehicle (2026): Glovo — bike, e-bike, scooter, car (on foot in some cities); Wolt — bike, scooter, car; Uber Eats — bike, scooter, car (and on foot in city centres); Bolt Food — bike, scooter, car, but only in selected cities — check the current list in the app. The full sign-up step by step: how to become a Glovo and Wolt courier.

How much a scooter or e-bike rental for delivery costs (2026)

The ranges below are approximate 2026 market prices from rental companies and courier fleets in the big cities. Always confirm the rate and exactly what is included:

  • E-bike: 120-200 zł/week. Usually includes the bike, one battery, a charger and service (pads, chain, tubes), sometimes a thermal bag. Deposit 300-500 zł.
  • E-scooter 45 km/h: 200-350 zł/week. Includes OC, registration, helmet, top box and service; increasingly also battery swaps at the fleet's station. Deposit 500-1000 zł.
  • 125cc scooter: 250-400 zł/week. Includes OC, inspection, service, helmet and top box; fuel is on you. Deposit 800-1500 zł.
  • Monthly billing is often 10-15% cheaper than weekly; for a 3+ month rental negotiate both the price and the deposit.
What to watch: "from 120 zł" is often the price without a spare battery and without service. Ask directly: is a second battery or swap included, who pays for a punctured tyre and brake pads, does the scooter's OC cover commercial riding, what is the excess on a claim, and when does the deposit come back.

The most common choice in 2026: an e-bike to start (zero paperwork, low cost) and an e-scooter once you ride 6+ days a week and want to catch orders outside the centre too. A 125cc or a car only pays off with steady suburban work or in winter — run the numbers in is renting a car for delivery worth it.

Range, batteries and winter — the logistics of a working day

With electric vehicles it is the battery, not you, that decides how many hours you work. Rental companies use two models:

  • Swap — battery exchange at the fleet's station. Ride in, hand over the empty one, take a full one in two minutes. Most convenient with e-scooters. Check how many stations the fleet has, where they are and whether they are open in the evening when orders peak.
  • Charging at home. A removable battery charges in 4-6 hours from a regular socket. An e-bike battery weighs 3-4 kg, a scooter's 10-15 kg. A second battery included in the rent is a real 2-3 extra hours of work a day.
  • Planning the day. E-bike: 40-80 km is about 4-6 hours of riding in the centre; e-scooter: 50-90 km is 5-7 hours. Couriers working 10-hour days take a charging break between 14:00 and 17:00, when orders are slowest.
  • Winter. In frost the battery loses 20-30% of its range, more at -10°C. On ice and salt a 125cc and an e-bike with wide tyres cope better than a light e-scooter; some fleets swap scooters for cars in winter or lower the rent.
Practical tip: before signing, ask for a test day or a first week without a minimum rental term. You will see the real range, not the brochure one.

How much a courier earns on a bike, scooter and car — centre vs suburbs

Platform rates in 2026 are usually 8-15 zł per delivery plus bonuses. Approximate gross figures, before the rental cost:

  • City centre (Śródmieście in Warsaw, Old Town in Kraków, the Rynek in Wrocław): bike and e-bike 25-35 zł/h, scooter 30-45 zł/h, car 25-35 zł/h — parking and traffic eat the time.
  • Districts and suburbs (Białołęka, Wilanów, Krzyki, Bielany): bike under 20 zł/h — too far; e-scooter 25-35 zł/h; 125cc and car 30-45 zł/h thanks to long routes and bigger orders.
  • After the rent (40 h/week): an e-bike at 150 zł is about 3.75 zł/h of cost; an e-scooter at 275 zł about 7 zł/h plus electricity; a 125cc at 325 zł about 8 zł/h plus 15-20 zł of fuel a day; a car at 500 zł is 12.5 zł/h plus 40-60 zł of fuel a day.
  • Peaks: lunch 11:30-14:00 and evening 17:30-21:30, plus rain and weekends — multipliers of 1.2-1.5×.
In short: at 40-50 hours a week an e-bike and an e-scooter in the centre usually give the highest net income per hour; a car wins only outside the centre and in winter. Full calculation with a calculator: how much a Glovo, Wolt and Uber Eats courier earns.

The rules depend on the vehicle category, not the platform. Before renting, check what you are allowed to ride:

  • Bike and e-bike (assist up to 25 km/h, motor up to 250 W): no licence, registration or OC; a helmet is not mandatory for adults, but rentals and platforms require one. Note: an e-bike "unlocked" above 25 km/h legally becomes a moped — without OC and registration that means a fine and full liability in an accident.
  • E-scooter up to 45 km/h (moped): category AM (from age 14) or any category B; registration document, OC and a certified helmet are mandatory.
  • 125cc scooter (up to 11 kW): category A1, or a Polish or EU category B licence held for at least 3 years, with power up to 11 kW. OC, technical inspection and helmet are mandatory.
  • Foreigners: an EU/EEA licence is valid without exchange. A non-EU licence (Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia) is honoured for 6 months from obtaining residence — after that it must be exchanged for a Polish one at the wydział komunikacji.
  • To sign up on a platform: passport or ID, residence document (karta pobytu, visa, PESEL UKR), a PESEL and a bank account for payouts; settlement through a fleet partner or your own business. For a scooter or car, additionally the licence and the vehicle's registration document.
No OC, not a metre. An e-scooter or 125cc without a valid OC policy means a UFG penalty: in 2026 it is 320 zł for a gap of up to 3 days, 800 zł for 4-14 days and 1600 zł beyond 14 days (for mopeds and motorcycles it is 1/3 of the minimum wage, so the amounts rise with it). When renting, ask for a photo of the policy and check its expiry — if the fleet stalls, that is a warning sign.

How to find a rental through Podpin and what to check in the contract

Podpin gathers offers from fleets and rental companies across Poland in one catalog. Scooters and e-bikes for delivery are a few clicks away:

  • Filters. In the catalog set Work: delivery and Vehicle: scooter — direct link: scooters for delivery. E-bikes: e-bikes for delivery. The "electric" toggle separates e-scooters from petrol 125cc ones.
  • City. Start from the city page — Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków — you will see local fleets, their vehicles, courier reviews.
  • In the offer check: weekly and monthly price, deposit and its return window, what is included (spare battery, helmet, top box, service), OC and excess, km limit (rare with scooters, but it happens) and the notice period.
  • At pickup: photos and video of the vehicle, battery condition (cycle count, if the fleet shows it), a handover protocol, a check of brakes and lights. Ask about a replacement vehicle during repairs.
  • Warning signs: no written contract, "we'll sort the OC later", deposit in cash only with no receipt, no reviews or only negative ones in courier groups.
No scooter in your city? Ask a local car fleet — more and more taxi fleets are adding scooters and e-bikes for delivery to their offer. If you prefer four wheels, read is renting a car for delivery worth it.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what couriers ask most:

Do I need a licence for an e-scooter to deliver for Glovo?
Yes, if the scooter goes up to 45 km/h — it is a moped, so you need category AM or any B licence, and the vehicle must be registered and have OC. An e-bike with assist up to 25 km/h does not require a licence.
How much does a scooter rental for delivery cost in 2026?
Approximately: e-scooter 200-350 zł/week, 125cc scooter 250-400 zł/week, e-bike 120-200 zł/week. Plus a deposit of 300-1500 zł depending on the vehicle.
Does a courier on an e-bike need OC insurance?
No — an e-bike up to 25 km/h is not subject to mandatory OC. It is worth having private liability insurance (OC w życiu prywatnym, about 50-100 zł a year) in case you damage a pedestrian or a car.
What is better to start with: an e-bike or an e-scooter?
To start, an e-bike: zero paperwork, lower rent and deposit, no OC. Switch to a scooter once you ride 6+ days a week, cover zones outside the centre or want to work all winter.
Can I work in winter on a scooter or e-bike?
Yes, with caveats: the battery loses 20-30% of its range, and ice and salt demand care. In winter couriers more often choose a 125cc or a car, and fleets sometimes offer a vehicle swap.
I have a Ukrainian category B licence — can I rent a scooter?
An e-scooter up to 45 km/h — yes, as long as your licence is honoured in Poland (6 months from obtaining residence, then exchange for a Polish one). A 125cc under the "B for 3 years" rule in practice requires a Polish or EU document — it is safer to exchange the licence or get category A1.
Find a scooter or e-bike for delivery
On Podpin you filter offers by work type (delivery), vehicle (scooter, bike) and electric drive. Courier reviews, clear weekly prices and the deposit visible up front — no hidden fees.
Sources and notes (September 2026): legal requirements based on the ustawa o kierujących pojazdami (categories AM, A1, B) and the Prawo o ruchu drogowym (definitions of an e-bike and a moped); platform rules from Glovo, Wolt and Uber Eats. Rental prices (e-bike 120-200 zł, e-scooter 200-350 zł, 125cc 250-400 zł per week), deposits and hourly rates are approximate market values for 2026. Always confirm exact prices, deposit, OC scope and what is included with the rental company before signing — they vary between fleets and cities and may change.
