How much a taxi driver earns in Warsaw in 2026

September 27, 20263 min readPodpin

There is no single honest figure for how much a taxi driver earns in Warsaw: the result depends on hours, time of day, commission, the settlement model with a partner and the cost of the car. We do not publish an average without an available sample and method. Instead, we show how to calculate your own result, with current rental prices from Podpin listings and the budget calculator at the bottom of the page.

CityAverage/weekRangeListingsAverage year
Warszawa702 zł300–900 zł412016
Gdańsk636 zł500–800 zł72014
Wrocław600 zł250–850 zł62016
Szczecin738 zł650–800 zł42018
Legnica650 zł500–800 zł22015
Kraków750 zł700–800 zł22022

Sample: active car rentals primarily listed for taxi work on Podpin with positive weekly prices, excluding channel-only listings; at least 2 listings per city. These are asking prices, not transactions or market-wide statistics. One listing need not represent one available vehicle. Calculated 9/27/2026.

From ride price to take-home amount

The calculation starts with the price paid by the passenger but ends much lower. First the platform takes its commission: Bolt publishes 25% of the final ride price (with stated exceptions), Freenow states 22% net, and Uber's rate is shown in the statement. If you drive through a fleet partner, its fee comes next. Then you deduct rent, fuel or charging, car washes and phone, and finally taxes and contributions if nobody has withheld them yet.

Calculate the hourly rate over all your time in the app, not only time with a passenger. Waiting for a request, driving to the pickup and an empty return from the airport are also work. When comparing platforms, do not set percentages with different bases (gross, net, with or without VAT) against each other.

What is specific to Warsaw

Licence: the fee for a taxi licence with an extract for the area of Warsaw alone, for 2–15 years and one vehicle, is PLN 355.20, more than PLN 222 in Kraków or Wrocław. In the partner model the carrier pays it, but the cost usually comes back through the partner's fee. The licence covers Warsaw: a ride with a passenger outside the city is possible, but taking new local requests outside the licence area is allowed only under the exceptions in Article 6 of the act.

Airports: Chopin Airport lies within Warsaw, while Modlin is in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, outside the Warsaw licence area. Airport rides can be longer but also mean queues and empty returns, so count them separately. Asking prices for rentals in Warsaw and other cities are in the table above: these are active listings on Podpin, not market-wide statistics.

Worked example: assumptions, not an average

The calculator at the bottom of the page starts from example values: 40 hours a week, PLN 45 payout per hour after the platform fee, rent of PLN 700 and fuel with servicing of PLN 250 per week. That gives a PLN 7,200 payout and a PLN 3,400 balance over 4 weeks, before taxes, contributions, the partner fee and other costs. This is not the rate of any platform nor a Warsaw average.

Sensitivity matters more than the result itself. At 40 hours a week, every PLN 5 difference in hourly payout is PLN 200 a week, or PLN 800 over 4 weeks. Every PLN 100 difference in weekly rent is PLN 400 over the same period. Also remember that a month has about 4.33 weeks on average (52/12), not 4.

ItemWeek4 weeks
Payout after platform fee (40 h × PLN 45)PLN 1,800PLN 7,200
Car rent−PLN 700−PLN 2,800
Fuel, energy and servicing−PLN 250−PLN 1,000
Balance before taxes, contributions and partner feePLN 850PLN 3,400

Hours and zones: measure on your own data

Do not assume a fixed multiplier for rain, weekends or a concert. Instead, split the week into blocks (weekday mornings, afternoons, Friday and Saturday nights, arrival waves) and for each record the payout, online time and kilometres, including driving to pickups and empty returns. After three or four comparable weeks you will see which blocks give you the highest payout per hour.

One very good day or a recruitment advert does not prove an average. Compare weeks with the same car, in the same city and with the same settlement method.

Taxes and contributions: who pays them

How much is left to take home depends on the model. With a partner agreement, PIT and ZUS depend on the type of contract and your insurance status; some amounts may already be deducted in the statement. With your own business you pay contributions and tax yourself, and the lump-sum tax (ryczałt) is calculated on revenue, not on profit after fuel and rent.

In the calculator, enter only the taxes and contributions the partner has not yet deducted from your payout, so you do not subtract them twice.
